Sword Master's Greatsword

Product Code: TAKNGS

Historically; this sword came into existence in the mid 12th century for use by dismounted knights. Scotland's hero Sir William Wallace had a clay-more nearly 5½ feet long. In fact Scotland's ability to throw off the over-lordship of England's Kings in the early 13th century was due in no small part to the dread skill-at-arms of her massed highlanders and their Clay-mores. These swords, also known as Greatswords, were still as widely used in the early Renaissance as they were in the Middle Ages. Often seen in the hands of master swordsmen, on the field of battle these great swords were used to break tight enemy polearm formations.
