Roman Centurion Pugio Dirk

Product Code: TAANPD

This dirk has been part of legionary equipment for hundreds of years, as it was the ideal shape and there was no need for it to be changed. Many a pugio dirk like this was the savior of an all but defeated Roman legionary (when he had lost his Gladius sword); however, this was more than a weapon of last defense, it was also the soldier's marching-camp handy tool. We do not know why but after about 180AD only senior officers, from Centurion and up, carried pugios on their belts.

24cm/9.5" long approx.

Handmade out of Scandinavian ash with jute handle.

Usually dispatched in 10-20 days.
