By Christian medieval times, the old pagan ways were laughed at and the court shaman with wand and bells had been turned into the comical court jester. In myth and tales, almost all beings with fairy realm powers had wands. The most famous shaman in British folk tale was Merlin, the court adviser of King Arthur, but the most famous wizard today is J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter.
